"It is what it is" is a popular saying that struck Jeff as a good song title so he wrote the song based around the title and brought the song to TC who quickly wrote a bridge and the killer spanish style riff that's in break. Jeff and TC made this a trubute to Carlos Santana and Jeff decided for TC to sing it in the style of Julio Iglesias with Jeff doing his best Carlos on guitar. Written during a breakup as many great songs are it was also recorded on Duck Key 2011.
